QuickBooks Nonprofit Edition 2008 is nonprofit organization software
that helps you accurately complete key bookkeeping and accounting
tasks to demonstrate financial accountability, manage fund-raising
efforts, and ensure your nonprofit organization's success.
QuickBooks 2008 simplifies essential business tasks, helping
business owners be more efficient, more productive and more
successful. It includes new and improved features ranging from the
enhanced Accountant's Copy, to new tools that extend QuickBooks
functionality, such as Invoice for Time and Expenses, which allows
users to see all unbilled time, expenses, mileage and items in one
screen.
QuickBooks Premier offers industry-specific and planning tools to
help take businesses to the next level. Along with saving users
time on routine accounting tasks, such as payroll, invoicing, bill
tracking and check-writing, Premier makes it simple to monitor
business performance, build forecasts and manage payables and
receivables. Premier also includes advanced tools for tracking
inventory, creating purchase orders and setting prices levels.

* Simplifying Day-to-Day Tasks
- New: QuickBooks Coach and Tips. New users can get up and running
quickly with the new QuickBooks Coach and Tips tool. The QuickBooks
Coach provides access points for two tasks all new users want to
accomplish: Continue Learning or Start Using (with guidance). The
Start Using access point allows new users to interact with the
QuickBooks homepage with guidance, where they can learn more about
workflows. Users can mouse over various workflow starting points to
see information about what these represent and how to use the
workflows. Users can also click on a specific workflow starting point
which will illuminate the entire workflow and provide tutorials on how
QuickBooks works, and how to map QuickBooks to their existing business
workflows.
- Next Gen Help. The Help window sits side-by-side with the QuickBooks
user interface, so users can now move back and forth seamlessly,
without the Help window blocking the user's view. The new Relevant
Topics list lets users bypass Search and gives them a list of most-
likely questions to choose from, based on where the user is in the
product. Help also provides more easily scannable topics, and
suggested spellings and best-guess results when users misspell words
in their query. If the user needs further assistance, the help section
provides a direct link to QuickBooks' online support and QuickBooks
Community site.
- Form customization. QuickBooks 2008 makes it easy to customize forms,
such as invoices, with new auto-preview functionality. The most
commonly used customization options are easy to access with real-time
preview for instant results.
- Sales tax management. QuickBooks 2008 provides one access point for
business owners to manage sales tax information. This latest upgrade
consolidates preferences, reports and sales tax payment options all in
one place.
- Search. Users can more easily find customer, vendor or financial
information and quickly get a complete contextual list of matching
files with Google Desktop. For added security, users can only search
QuickBooks data from within QuickBooks. The search tool is also tied
to QuickBooks user permissions so search results are limited by
authorization levels.
- Save time. QuickBooks reduces redundant and repetitive tasks by auto-
classifying account information for frequently entered business
expenses. Bill entry goes faster because users won't have to go back
and look up the right expense account for each vendor every time.
QuickBooks will learn an account when used three times in a row for
the same vendor.
* All the Essentials to Complete Tasks Efficiently
- Comprehensive financial management made simple. QuickBooks Pro and
Premier help business owners complete routine accounting tasks quickly
and easily. In QuickBooks, a check looks like a check, not a Web form.
Invoices can be created directly from sales orders or estimates. As
any transaction is made -- from invoices to bills to expenses --
QuickBooks tracks all the data, making it readily available to see and
use at any time. Users can also quickly run reports so they can be
ready for tax time.
- Home page. The home page provides users with a clickable, graphical
overview of their key tasks and shows how they are related -- all on
one page. It's so easy to navigate that users are never more than two
clicks away from their most important activities. From the home page,
users can also see key account balances, further customize QuickBooks,
change preferences and add products and services that work with
QuickBooks.
- QuickBooks Centers. The Customer, Vendor and Employee Centers provide
users with the ability to view and manage all their customer, vendor
and employee information and transactions from one simple screen. All
the tasks and data that belong together are grouped together, making
it easier for users to find and act on certain information.
- Payroll Center. With a subscription to Intuit Small Business Payroll
(additional fees apply), users can manage payroll and payroll taxes
right from at-a-glance screens. There s no double entry and nothing
new to learn. The Payroll Center guides users through the payroll
process -- review, confirm and submit -- giving full confirmation that
payroll is correct and ready to go. There is no time wasted double
checking. Intuit Small Business Payroll also provides automatic
calculations and the latest tax tables and forms, helping improve
payroll accuracy. New scheduled pay groups allow business owners to
create groups of employees according to pay frequency and schedule for
easy batch processing.
- Give simultaneous access to multiple users as a business grows. Users
can work in QuickBooks simultaneously across a Local Area Network
(LAN). Separate access permissions and passwords are easily
configured. Three-User Editions for QuickBooks Pro 2008 and QuickBooks
Premier 2008 are available to allow three users to work on QuickBooks
at the same time. QuickBooks Pro and Premier Three-User Editions are
expandable up to five users, with purchase of additional copies of
QuickBooks and a LAN.
- Create and customize a business plan. Using existing QuickBooks data,
business owners can easily create a business plan with three-year
projected financial statements. It's possible to export these
statements to PDF format for effortless distribution or to Microsoft
Excel (sold separately) for further analysis. A plan review feature
helps to ensure that a user s plan is complete and accurate. This
feature is available in Premier only.
* Solutions Beyond Accounting to Help Businesses Succeed
- New: Google Maps and Directions. Users can now easily view a map for
each address displayed in their Customer, Vendor and Employee Centers
-- right from within QuickBooks, as well as get step-by-step
directions from the company default address to the contact's address.
- New: WebListings. Business owners can enter business information once
and WebListings will submit it to major online business directories
like Google Maps and Yahoo! Local. Attract customers searching online
for businesses like yours.
- Google AdWords. QuickBooks users can use AdWords to advertise their
business online. They can select search terms related to their product
or service and create customized ads that appear when shoppers search
on Google for those products or services. Users have control over
their budgets, allowing them to stop or pause their campaign, monitor
their spending or change their advertising messages at any time.
* "Right for Me" Capabilities for Product-based Businesses and Accountants
- Improved: Accountant's Copy. QuickBooks 2008 now automates the task of
users creating and saving an Accountant's Copy on their computer and
sending it later to their accountant; in one click, customers can have
their Accountant's Copy automatically created, encrypted and uploaded
to a server. The accountant receives an e-mail notification and can
download the file from the server to their computer. The accountant
can review and revise historical company accounting records while the
customer continues to perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. And the
report that displays the accountant's changes is now easier to read. A
new "quick-zoom" function lets users view the original transaction and
see items that were added or modified from a list of changes.
Importing and merging the accountant s changes into the customer's
company file has been tremendously improved. Now if a merge conflict
occurs, the customer has clear, easy-to-understand instructions to
quickly resolve the conflict.
- New and Improved: Online Timesheets. QuickBooks Time Tracker online
service is the fastest and easiest way to track and invoice billable
time. New Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook makes it easy
for employees and contractors to automatically transfer time from
their Outlook calendar to Time Tracker. Employers can now review and
edit timesheets online. When they're ready to go, all it takes is one
click to download everything directly into QuickBooks for faster, more
accurate billing. QuickBooks Time Tracker is sold separately but
includes a 60-day free trial period.
- New: Invoice for Time & Expenses. Invoice for Time and Expenses allows
users streamline time and expense tracking for easy client billing.
Users are presented with all unbilled time and expenses in one screen
and can create invoices with just one click. This feature is available
in Premier editions of QuickBooks.
- Item management. The Unit of Measure feature in QuickBooks 2008
enables users to automatically convert units of an item into different
quantities, such as packages to pairs, as well as prices and costs.
This makes it easier to meet customer and vendor needs and reduce
errors from manual calculations. This feature is only available in
QuickBooks: Premier Manufacturing & Wholesale Edition, Premier Retail
Edition and Premier Accountant Edition.
- Shipping Manager. Users have the ability to ship multi-parcel and
high-value shipments with FedEx and UPS, handle third-party billing
and print labels directly from QuickBooks, using popular thermal
printers available at leading office supply retailers.
- Automatic tracking of activities in QuickBooks. Accountants and small
business owners can have peace of mind knowing that changes to
important QuickBooks data will always be tracked. The always-on audit
trail lets users easily track any changes or errors that they, their
employees or their accountant may have made. Users and their
accountants will also save time when trying to understand the work
done by other users in the company. And because QuickBooks is built on
an industry-standard SQL database, the always-on audit trail does not
affect speed or performance.
* Integrates Easily With Other Software to Eliminate Data Re-Entry
- New: Outlook integration. QuickBooks 2008 now integrates with
Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express, allowing users to maintain
their existing e-mailing workflows. Customers can access sent e-mails
in their Sent folder, and will be able to add any attachments to e-
mails before sending, all without having to exit their current
workflow in order to send e-mail. Customers will benefit from improved
performance and speed, and will be able to send e-mails over their
existing ISP.
- QuickBooks add-on applications. For more specialized or industry-
specific tasks, QuickBooks has an extensive community of developers
who have built more than 450 applications that work with QuickBooks.
