Simple Installation
Installation is straightforward†. All Encore products auto-configure to their host system without the need for switches or jumpers—just swap processor cards and you’re ready to go. No jumpers, no switches, no chaos in your workspace—it doesn’t get much simpler.
OS Compatibility
Encore/ST G4 upgrades are compatible with your existing hardware, software, RAM, and peripherals. They are 100% OS X compatible, and support from Mac OS 9.2 through OS X Version 10.4 (Tiger); OS 9.2 is required to perform firmware updates.**

Encore/ST G4 processor upgrades do not cause sleep issues in computers that support sleep with the original processor installed. If a computer does experience sleep issues with the original processor installed, installing an Encore/ST upgrade is unlikely to change that condition. In the very rare instance where a computer begins to have sleep issues after an Encore/ST upgrade is installed, the problem is isolated to that specific card and can be resolved by replacing it.

**Except for SG4-1000-2M, these Encore/ST G4 upgrades require the installation of a supplied firmware patch; you must boot your computer in Mac OS 9.2 (installed on a local hard drive) in order to run the firmware updater application. For 1.8 GHz models, Mac OS X compatibility requires Mac OS X Version 10.3.5 or greater.
