APC's Isolated Extension Cable (IEC) extends the allowable distance between a server running PowerChute plus software and an APC uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Standard cables usually allow for distances of only 5 meters and can be susceptible to ground loops and noise. The APC IEC allows up to 100m of cable between equipment for monitoring and management of APC Smart-UPS, Matrix and Symmetra UPSs.
