The 73.5GB MAS Series hard drive combines numerous, innovative Fujitsu technologies to deliver industry leading performance and reliability. The seventh generation Giant Magneto-Resistive (GMR) head technology delivers 34.7 Gb/in² areal density to achieve larger capacities with fewer platters. A super-fast 15,000-RPM rotational speed lowers average seek time to 3.3 ms, single-track seek time to 0.3 ms, and average rotational latency to 2.0 ms. To improve response time in high-load, multitasking applications, the MAS series features an 8MB, 32-bit data cache buffer and a dual-processor architecture. Acceleration Feed Forward, a method of canceling out rotational vibrations and shocks, also helps improve drive performance. Fluid dynamic bearings (FDBs) are incorporated in all MAS Series drives to reduce noise.
