Made of stainless steel with industrial-gauge rubber "mouse" buttons, DuraPoint is the world's toughest mouse! When properly mounted, the OEM "faceplate" version is NEMA rated and environmentally sealed - leaving no open areas to collect moisture, grime or dust. DuraPoint was introduced by Interlink Electronics in 1993. Since then it has survived every tough situation imaginable, including a five-story drop during testing by MaxiData in Sweden, and being run-over by an 18-wheel semi-truck in California. What makes DuraPoint so tough? It combines Interlink Electronics' proprietary VersaPoint Pointing Technology with the highest quality product design, components, and construction.

DuraPoint's construction includes a thick stainless steel case that is resistant to the jolts and impacts common to manufacturing, industrial, and field computing applications. Mounted underneath and projecting up through its bezeled steel top is DuraPoint's interactive mouse button pad.

Made of industrial-gauge rubber, this pad, with its circular mouse button and parallel click actuators, delivers extremely fine cursor control and mouse click button support, yet is rugged enough to be environmentally sealed when installed, making the DuraPoint impervious to liquids, gases, dirt, dust and grime (DuraPoint is NEMA 4X, 12 and 13 rated).

Positioned directly beneath the mouse button pad is Interlink Electronics' patented Force Sensing Resistor (FSR). Protected by the case above and supported by a stainless steel plate, this four-zone sensor translates pressure from the mouse control button into signals that, when processed through a micro-controller, drive cursor direction and speed. The result: liquid-smooth 360-degree cursor control - all with the mild pressure of a fingertip. A light touch moves the cursor at a precise crawl, while heavy pressure speeds it across the screen.

DuraPoint's micro-controller and electronics are mounted to the underside of the steel plate supporting the pointing sensor. After circuit board installation, the entire inside of the unit is shot with a silicone potting material to permanently seal the device. Finally, rubber feet are added using bolt threads, enabling the DuraPoint to be used as a freestanding device or to be installed onto control panels and test equipment. Throw in a heavy-duty sealed connector cord, and you have what has proven itself to be the world's toughest computer mouse!
