The Edgeport/1 USB-to-serial converter is in the Edgeport family of enterprise USB connectivity solutions. Merely a “bump in the cable”, the Edgeport/1 provides one high-speed EIA-232 DB-9 serial port for attaching a PDA, printer, bar code scanner or other serial peripheral device to a PC. The Edgeport/1 offers the same reliability, performance, no-hassle installation, and operating system support (including Windows NT 4.0, XP, XP Embedded, 2000 and 95) as the flagship Edgeport USB expansion boxes – but at a fraction of the size. Weighing less than 2 oz, The Edgeport/1 is perfect for mission-critical applications such as point-of-sale, kiosks, and mobile computing, in which space is limited and flexible I/O expansion is required.
